A prince of the blood, always fulfilling his duty, and a lord's daughter, striving to avoid her own. Two complete opposites. Will they be able to find common ground?
A few notes:
1. Baelor is 20 years old at the time of the story. He has already defeated his uncle Daemon at the tourney in honor of Princess Daenerys's wedding, but the Redgrass Field is still six years away. The prince is young, but already promising. And, to paraphrase my beloved Jeyne, "It is common knowledge that a single heir to the Iron Throne certainly needs a wife"... I decided to see what would come of it.
2. Why is Prince Baelor still unmarried at such a ripe old age? Daeron the Good arranged the marriage of his firstborn to the Dondarrions to appease the lords of the Dornish Marches, who were outraged by his union with the Dornish princess. Unfortunately, Ella fell ill just before her move to King's Landing to prepare to become the future queen under the supervision of Myriah Martell. The girl had been ill for several years, and all this time Daeron the Good couldn't bring himself to break the engagement because it would have looked unseemly, despite the Council's insistence. So it was that Baelor enjoyed his bachelor life more than he should have. And then Ella died. And then there was Jena.
3. Jena is about to turn eighteen and wants to see the Free Cities, not this "marry a Targaryen" thing. Especially since it was her older sister, sadly deceased, who was promised to this very Targaryen. Jena isn't used to giving up and is looking for a way out.
4. It will be a classic "forced marriage becomes real." Enjoy!
