Ember and her dad always loved the idea of being enveloped by all of the dark and angry spirits. Her dad was getting older, and the more they move, the more stressed he got. He needed to settle down. Ember did some looking, and she found the Murder House. And what a better place to live then The Murder House? There is none. As said before, Ember knows about everyone in the house.
