When a Gallagher moves to Los Angeles, the chaos of the South Side follows. Ian Gallagher is trying to build a stable life with Mickey Milkovich away from the triggers of Chicago, but his Bipolar I disorder remains a constant shadow. At the 118, he forms an unexpected bond with Evan "Buck" Buckley, who has recently received his own diagnosis of Bipolar II. As Mickey clashes with the disciplined world of the LAFD and Eddie Diaz struggles to keep Buck from spiraling, both couples must navigate medical crises, the sting of systemic homophobia within the department, and the traumatic ghosts of their pasts. It's a story of chemical imbalances, fierce loyalty, and the realization that fire isn't the only thing that can burn a house down.

An Add on to my Searching Universe ~~ Buck moved as if to turn around and face him, but before he could, a bright white light flashed, blocking Eddie's vision. Something shoved him, a hot burning erupting on his palms as he went airborne and flew off the truck. He landed hard, his breath rushing out and his back throbbing with ache. But all that paled in comparison to the white hot searing that filled his soul. The mark on his neck burned as if someone had taken a poker, heated it cherry red, and then shoved it against his skin.

"eddie..." "relax buck, let me take care of you" --- What starts as a casual arrangement to blow off steam quickly evolves into something deeper, something neither of them could have anticipated. A story in which Buck and Eddie find themselves in a sticky situation (literally). --- ranks: #1 in 'eddie' and 'eddie diaz' #1 in 'maddie' #1 in 'bobby'

*Warning, this story contains child abuse and neglect, homophobia, minor and brief suicidal ideations* If there is one thing that Buck knows, it's that he's not enough to get people to stay. He's had a family who barely acknowledged he was there and another that just left him behind. A sister who pushed him away, giving him keys to a car and a debit card to an account he had no interest in having. Bobby and Marcy were the only people he could count on. Then he meets Eddie Diaz. But even he broke his heart, leaving in the middle of the night just as they were planning a life together. All he left was a note that held no answers. Buck was once again, not enough. Moving to LA is a fresh start for Buck and for Bobby, things are good. After almost 7 years Buck is finally feeling like he's in a place where he's ready to trust someone again when he meets Abby. And even when she leaves, things still feel good, not perfect but good. Until Bobby introduces the 118's newest recruit. Eddie Diaz.

When Christopher asks to do "25 Days 'Til Christmas" this year, Buck says yes before he even knows what that means. Soon, there's a calendar on the fridge, glitter in the grout, hot cocoa permanently on the stove, and Eddie Diaz quietly realizing that somehow, somewhere between paper snowflakes and late-night movie marathons, Evan Buckley became his favorite holiday tradition. Twenty-five days. One house. A kid with a plan. Two idiots in love. By Christmas morning, something has to give.

After a bad fall on a call, Eddie Diaz wakes up in a hospital bed with a pounding headache, a foggy timeline... and one thing he's sure of: The man sitting at his side, fingers laced tight with his, is his husband. Evan Buckley knows that's not true. They're best friends, partners on and off the truck, tangled up in each other's lives but never quite brave enough to cross that last line. But when Eddie looks at him with raw, terrified eyes and whispers, "Buck?" like he's home, the correction dies on Buck's tongue. The doctors call it retrograde amnesia. Buck calls it a second chance he was never supposed to have. As Eddie pieces his life back together, his son, his job, the 118, he leans on the memories he thinks he has: late-night talks, shared vows, rings that never existed. Buck tries to hold the lie together without breaking under the weight of it, knowing every borrowed moment will hurt more when the truth finally comes out. Because Eddie may have forgotten everything else... but somehow, he never stopped loving Buck.
