Although no one knew it, Desire was struggling. It was highly unbelievable because as a top worker in one of Lagos' most exclusive and influential night clubs, she was making thousands every night. All her other friends were living large, and building houses, so why couldn't she? Her father had died five years ago, leaving them drowning in a sea of debt. Her mother was sick, and couldn't do anything, so from an early age Desire had had to wear the mantle of responsibility. A twenty six million naira debt was on her neck, and for five years, Desire had consistently been paying it off; while simultaneously keeping a roof over her mother's head, and saving up money for school. Salvation came at last; but in form of the hardest, most handsome man she had ever laid eyes upon? General Babalola Halal. He was offering five million Naira for a whole month of exclusive sex. Pure, undiluted gratification. It was her job, and this offer was coming on a platter of gold. Even more tempting was the fact that it was the exact amount needed to be free of her father's debt. Completely. But he was hard, and demanding, and excruciatingly virile. Accepting this posed a risk far greater than millions. The stark reality of losing everything she stood for, and gaining nothing in return because a man like this never gave anything of himself. He was rich, five million Naira meant nothing to him. But she knew what she was getting into, she knew how addictive his touch was, and how hard it was to stay sane around him. Could she do this? Was losing her sanity a price she was willing to pay?

Less than six months ago, I discovered through the most shocking means that I fathered a child with my first love and the only woman I have ever truly loved, 20 years ago. Of course, as a responsible adult, I swung in and did the right thing. But the right thing also includes getting married, giving my daughter Nimi a home she would be proud of and setting the right examples at 40. I have chosen a candidate for that. But my plans are again foiled by Lola Sodipo, the one woman who broke my heart and shattered it to pieces in the year 2000. The woman who is the reason I have become the person that I am today - someone who doesn't give a hoot about love and all the shenanigans associated with it. However, Lola gets in my head again and while I fight her off, I realize she isn't the only distraction that has entered my life. But only when I decide to face my demons by revisiting the past and getting in touch with the man that I once was will I be able to conquer the major enemy trying to rip my family, my legacy and my heart into tiny shreds. - Tokunbo Carew, Valentine's 2020.

"Obanma if you keep vibrating like a car engine, neither of us would get good sleep. I can feel the bed shaking from way over there" He gestured at the edge of the bed where lay he before. Her mouth couldn't form any words in her own defense. "I've been battling with pneumonia I would have left the bed for you. Those tiles might just worsen my case. Besides there's enough space to fit two more people on this bed." She only nodded still staring at him and recoiling inwardly at the proximity between them. Adaugo had once told her that being on the same bed with a man could make her pregnant. Oh Biology her saviour! " I am not that kind of man, I offered you a place to rest for the night and that you shall get. Sleeping with your Jean trousers on, one foot in and foot out of the bed, huddling at the edge which is quite close to the door, wouldn't really save you if I wanted something else. I am a man, I am stronger and faster. So please relax, stop shaking and go to sleep. I have a very busy schedule tomorrow and just like you, I can't sleep unless my surrounding is suitable for sleeping " How did he know all that? Was he a mind reader too? She nodded again then slowly relaxed on the bed, still very much awake. Sleeping was not really what one did in enemy camp. He smiled, gently rolling over to his side to really have a look at her. She was truly very beautiful and innocent. He knew deep down that she could escape if she wanted to, he was no superman and she would definitely elude him. His hands itched to caress and hold her, that feeling was not alien, he had always felt protective of the girl. Onyedikachi simply turned to the other side of the bed with a smile on his face and very familiar words in his heart as exhaustion drove him to sleep. Smart girl! *** Two families living peacefully as neighbors till an unfortunate event turns them into arch enemies. How long will their war last when love decides to make their children mediators?

"I don't care what your heart feels. All I need is your body. You heart can do whatever it wants." This is not your typical Disney romance. The hero in this story is fucked up, possessive, controlling and from the excerpt above, you can see he is a tad bit unusual. This book also contains some sex scenes. If you are not a fan of this type of book, then stop right here. But if you are like me and you love a bad boy, let's ride together. I promise you will love it. Please don't forget to vote this story. Also comment, comment and comment. COMMENT!! ❤️ adetayo_first.

When ambition tastes like sin, who pays the price? In the corridors of Abuja's elite, Senator Damilare "Dami" Adeyemi stands on the brink of the presidency-a man groomed for greatness, adored by the masses, and feared by his enemies. But one forbidden night ignites a scandal that spirals into a national nightmare. She is Binta Yusuf, the beautiful, grieving wife of a decorated colonel. He is the rising star who should have stayed away. Their secret affair is a whisper that becomes a weapon, unleashing a storm of blackmail, betrayal, and bloodshed that threatens to bring down not just a man, but a nation. As leaked tapes rock the media, assassins stalk the streets of the capital, and Senate vultures circle, Dami must decide what matters more-his love for the woman who became his weakness, or the power that once defined him. But power is never surrendered; it is stolen, bargained, or buried with the dead. And in the shadows, a vengeful general, a cunning fixer, and a relentless journalist tighten the noose around his neck. From secret weddings to explosive hearings, from whispered hashtags to the echo of car bombs, this is a story of love twisted by ambition, betrayal bought with blood, and redemption paid at a devastating price. Will Dami rise again as a reformer-or return as a ghost of what power once made him? The Stain of Power is a masterful blend of political suspense, forbidden romance, and heart-stopping intrigue set against the volatile pulse of modern Nigeria. Every chapter bleeds with tension, passion, and the haunting truth: sometimes the cost of power is everything you ever loved.
