Cordelia Gelbee is a box jellyfish living in a dystopian society called the Aquaverse. Because of her inability to fit in with everyone else, she wishes that she could do something amazing to feel accepted in society and be respected instead of feared by all the other aqualings. One day Cordelia ends up accidentally saving an octopus called Marino from a gang of violent aqualings, who ends up offering her to come to the Deep Waters with him to find out more about what the higher-ups are hiding from them and the mysteries of the Deep Waters. Curious about the recent mutation break-in cases from the Deep Waters, she ends up agreeing to go with him. However, when her best friend Arnav finds out about this, he insists on going with Cordelia to protect her. Together the three of them set up their plan on sneaking on the Deep Sea Elevator and begin their adventure on finding out more about their nation and the things that the higher ups of the Aquaverse don't tell them. Little do they know that the Deep Waters isn't actually as harmless as they thought it'd be and that leaving that place might not be so simple after all.
