Forced into a marriage she did not want, would Lady Tammy Lynn Johnson allow it to happen because her only other choice was to stop being a mermaid and leave the water forever? Would she and her prince compromise to make an incompatible relationship work against the merfolk king's wishes? Created for the MerMay 2022 contest by talesofthedeep. Must have a unique mermaid and underwater world plus one underlined quote of two choices. I picked: They muddy the water to make it seem deep. This story won third place.

Cassie is a magician with real magic. Some might call her a witch, but their idea of what that means is not anything like what she does. Anything technology might do, magic can do. Even tech that has not gotten invented as yet. The illusion licenses true magicians to practice magic. Each county in New Hampshire has a single illusion and Cassie runs the Hillsborough County one. She teaches Computer Science at Southern New Hampshire University in Manchester. Someone uses magic to rob banks. They broke illusion and human laws in doing so. Cassie and her team of investigators have to track the criminal down before the humans discover magic really exists. This short story is for the Low Fantasy May 2022 challenge. Based on these prompts: 3. Do not be silent. Raise your voice. Be a light in the dark. 5. I don't think we know what kind of enemy we are really dealing with. 10. Just remember who you are. Don't let the world change you into someone else. That's the best advice anyone can give you.

Marissa owns a spaceship factory in space. Her engineers create a light speed engine leading her to be one of the first thirty humans to travel beyond our solar system. All kinds of theories exist for why light speed cannot happen. But this is a theory of what could happen with it. I created this for the April 2022 SciFi challenge based on the prompt: I left Earth to follow my dreams. What I found, was --- different.
