After house arrest ends it's time for the annual Rank-Up Competition. A yearly tournament SCIB members are required to compete in. In order to get strong enough to face down his ultimate enemy, Teruki Kosuka is excited to participate in order to grow stronger through doing battle with other power users. During a gruesome match between Raiden and Haruna he feels compelled to step in, and through disagreement he ends up matched up against Haruna during the quarterfinals. On top of that Zero meets Teruki Kosuka for the first time and declares that he intends to kill him. Friends clash, and tears will fall in the fifth volume of AWAKEN!

The finals are approaching, everything is ramping up. The tournament is at a fever pitch and soon, an unstoppable force meets an immovable object. J.O.I. has sent assassins to take out X, meanwhile Iyaragi tries to recruit Teruki Kosuka into his special ops. What dark and sinister plan has he concocted?!
