Peace, it turns out - is just a rebrand. In the aftermath of the war, the Ministry decides to merge the magic world with the muggle world and classify it as 'unity'. For Katherine, an ex-Auror with too many instincts and nowhere seemingly to put them, it means redundancy, rent overdue and a job dancing under fluorescent lights at a spot in London known as Club Lafayette. When a group of old acquaintances now known as 'The Ophidian' moves in to acquire the club and its catalogue as a headquarters for the Dark Lord, Katherine sees an opening. One last case. A final chance for her to earn back her badge and drag a criminal ring to light. But The Ophidian's aren't criminals in the traditional sense. They operate behind velvet ropes, games of chess and sealed contracts. They buy power, not people - or so they claim. By the time Katherine realises the trap isn't the club but something far more personal, she's already been set up on a game of chess in a position she wasn't expecting to hold, and there are players on that board who never intended to win... ... only to resurrect what should have stayed dead.

"Even the Dark Lord flinched when Myla raised her wand. Theo only smiled-because he knew she was his." The Dark Lord has won too much already. What remains of the old Slytherin circle-Theo, Draco, Blaise, Daphne, Pansy, and their tangled families-cling to one another in a war that has stripped them of youth, innocence, and choice. Loyalties blur, promises fracture, and survival demands sacrifices that wound deeper than any curse. At the center of it all is Myla-a brilliant tactician, the most feared weapon the Death Eaters have, and the woman Theo would burn the world to protect. But in this war, love is not salvation. It is leverage. And memory itself may not be strong enough to hold on to her. As betrayal coils through their ranks and Voldemort's grasp tightens, each secret kept to protect the family threatens to destroy it instead. In the Manor's halls and on bloodstained battlefields, they discover the war isn't just fought with wands. It's fought in the mind, the heart, and in the unbearable silence of what has already been lost.
