The war is won but after years, rebuilding is still slow and tenuous. Katara feels homeless. Everyone else has found a place for themselves after the war. Zuko is the Fire Lord. Aang is the Avatar restoring the Air Nomad nation. Toph has founded a metal bending school in the Earth Kingdom. Sokka has taken the lead beside their father in the Southern Water Tribe's rebuilding and modernization process. It seems there's no place left that needs Katara.

Katara is captured during a Fire Nation raid. When her identity as a chief's daughter marks her out as a valuable hostage, she is taken under the protection of Prince Zuko, her safety and wellbeing dependent on her people's cooperation. Passions rage between her and her supposed protector and they are caught up in a plot to unite their warring countries.

What if ... what if Aang and Katara never got together? What happens after they win Ozai? These have been sitting in my drafts for way too long... and some parts of it have been inspired by other works... Along the way it gets better I swear ...

The Hundred Year War is over. Peace has been declared. Aang is hailed as the world's savior, and Zuko, newly crowned Fire Lord, struggles to hold together a nation built on scars. Katara travels between nations as both ambassador and healer. Though she and Aang are close-everyone assumes they'll end up together-something unspoken lingers between her and Zuko. Something heavy. Something dangerous. In this world, peace is public, but personal wars still rage.

Avatar: The Last Airbender - Zuko is captured by the Dai Li in Ba Sing Se. While held in the darkest part of the Crystal Catacombs and certain all is lost, unexpected visitors arrive. Uneasy alliances are made and the motivations behind them are quickly tested. Written for Zutara Month/Zutara Big Bang/Zutara Week 2024. Katara, a lovely and ambitious Southern waterbender, is chosen as the first maiden from her tribe to be brought to Fire Lord Iroh's court during its Bride Season when thirty-six eligible young ladies compete for Crown Prince Zuko's hand. She moves into the Lotus Villa, the part of the palace where she and the other potential brides are kept safe, and befriends the front runners in the Bride Season despite her blossoming feelings for Prince Zuko. But life at court isn't all parties and dashing suitors. Katara is swept up in political rivalries which threaten her new friends and the prince she loves.
