Tris McCoy is having an uneventful summer. It's the summer before eleventh grade, and it's the last summer she has before she has to start worrying about driving, and college, and a career. With her mom being in the hospital and her dad enjoying the title of father out in Australia, she's left to spend the next six weeks alone. Until she (literally) stumbles across a stack of old letters from her pen pal, July Souders. July lives in British Columbia---four provinces away---but Tris knows of a camp she used to attend. Unwilling to spend the summer alone and desperate for any change, no matter the size, Tris sets off for summer camp. [FORMERLY AN ENTRY FOR THE 2024 ONC]

Cooper Matthews doesn't know much about Emmett Harlow, two things aside: 1) Emmett is one of the smartest guys he's ever met, and 2) Emmett is also one of the rudest guys he's ever met. But when the pair discover that their local drive-in movie theatre, their shared favorite place on earth (and shared place of employment), is under the threat, they have two options: they can either get over themselves and work together to save it, or they can let the drive-in fall into the wrong hands. It shouldn't be too hard, right?

Roommates to enemies to ... something more? **** When Eilidh moved in with Sabrina, she hadn't expected to wind up hating her. But, a little over half a year into their lease, and she's pretty sure she does. She hates so much about Sabrina: her stupid silver spoon life and her refusal to be grateful towards her family, her messiness, the long list of men she has over to their apartment. She's at her breaking point, and she needs Sabrina to go home to visit her family in Plum Bank, or she's going to lose her mind. And then Sabrina (arguably sweet, maybe silly, entirely unserious Sabrina, who may or may not be aware of Eilidh's feelings towards her) can't get her car to start, and for some reason, Eilidh compulsively offers to drive her home for the holidays. What's worse than living with a horrible roommate? Try being snowed in and forced to share a bed with her.

✨First Place + Grand Winner of ONC 2025✨ (thank you!) In the wake of her estranged mother's death, Maricel Ferrer returns to her childhood home to confront the dark secrets she left behind. 🪞 Maricel has spent years trying to forget the house she grew up in - the house where her mother's mental health slowly unraveled. But after receiving unexpected news, she has no choice but to return. The old fears should be gone, just like her childhood "imaginary friend" who liked to appear in her reflection. At first, it's easy to dismiss the strange occurrences: a flicker in the glass, a movement that doesn't quite match hers. But then the reflection smiles when she doesn't. Moves when she's still. Whispers things she doesn't want to hear. By the time Maricel realizes the truth - that the thing in the mirror has been waiting for her return - it's too late. Because now, it wants out. And it wants to take her place. ONC 2025 | Exclusively on Wattpad Prompt 55: What if the person you see in the mirror isn't really you, but something that's been watching you this whole time? Prompt 105: Your childhood imaginary friend, who disappeared years ago, suddenly returns - only this time, they're real. © 2025 Darly Jamison. All Rights Reserved.
