Now, feeling more alone than ever, Nico has to keep his nose clean and try and discover the meaning behind this newest chain of catastrophic events. But trouble seems to follow the son of Hades, and soon he's faced with a new challenge- family. As Nico tries to juggle hiding his own demigod identity from five of the world's best detectives, and discovering the secret behind their own late-night disappearances, the prophecy begins unwinding around him, sending him into a downwards spiral of disaster and discovery. Not only did he deserve to die, but he needed to." Bruce stood up, his hands on the table. "Slade's death was not your call and I respected that-" "No, you were forced to accept it because you couldn't stop me. You wanted me to spare him, just like every single one of your sons have up until that point, but how did that work out? When did Slade ever face justice for all the things he had done after they spared him? He deserved to die for everything he had done!" "It is not our place-" "Then thank f*ck that it actually was my place to do what you never could!" Bruce clenched his jaw. They stared at each other for a long moment before Bruce finally said, "We fight for justice, not vengeance. If you allow yourself to sink down to that place, you may never come back. It will kill you if you keep on fighting to avenge things that have not even happened yet" Nico stared at his father, the rage that had been boiling underneath his skin every second since he had woken up back in November began to break through the surface. Nico had two goals when he moved to Gotham #1- help new demigods get to Camp #2- don't meet the Waynes He didn't have anything against the family, how could he when he was only told about them the day before he moved, but he had heard about the serial adoption of black haired kids. He already had a strained relationship with his father, he didn't need a second one. -------- As Nico sat in the park with the random boys he befriended, he finally felt normal. They didn't know who his father was; hell, they thought his father was dead. He was quite literally the most free he had been since Italy and even then, it was under Mussolini at the time so that was a bit of a stretch. The calm seemed universal throughout the group until Tim's phone rang. "Oh shit, it's Bruce." Immediately all of them were on alert scanning the surrounding area while Tim talked on the phone, panic in his eyes. "He was on the other side of the park for a walk between meetings and saw a picture of us walking in the park online," Tim said as soon as he hung up. "Wait wait wait" Nico said as Jason looked like he was preparing to literally throw him into the tree. "Bruce as in Bruce Wayne? You're the Wayne's?! And why are you acting like he's gonna shoot me on sight?" "He's gonna shoot adoption papers at you." Damian mumbled, once again begrudgingly reviving a high five from Tim and Dick. Jason just rolled his eyes as he made his hands a step for Nico to get in the tree. "Yes we're the Wayne's. How do you know of us, but not have a clue what we look like?" Nico climbed onto the lowest branch that was a good six feet off the ground. Nico di Angelo gets adopted by Bruce Wayne after Batman witnesses him stalking around a cemetery in Gotham in the middle of the night. He doesn't want to move in with Bruce, but seeing as he can't supply any proof of his parents or even his own birth records, he doesn't have a good reason to say no. It's Bruce Wayne or the foster system so Nico decides to take his chances with the billionaire. What he didn't anticipate is that he isn't Bruce's only child, or that the man is more than meets the eye. Nico gets dragged into the Batfam and has to learn their secret while trying to hide the mythological world from the greatest family of detectives in the world. No Nico ships. China would have honestly been better than this. But luck was not on his side, it never was, and probably will never be. But this was cruel, even for the fates, or the gods, or really anyone. Because everyone seemed to wish Nico nothing more than a rather sucky life. The only problem was Nico himself. Gods, did he need to get a grip on his life. Especially as he stared up at the rust Iron sign that read 'Welcome to Gotham!'

Nico attempts a long-distance shadow-travel to visit Hazel, but his powers falter due to lingering exhaustion and the sheer emotional toll of the wars. Instead of Camp Jupiter, he lands in a dark, unfamiliar alleyway in a city unlike any he's known: Gotham. The sheer density of human despair and darkness in Gotham is overwhelming, almost physically painful for him. He encounters petty criminals or a low-level gang, instinctively using his powers to defend himself, but he's disoriented and vulnerable.

When Nico's shadow-travel lands him in Gotham, in a dark alleyway, he gets in a fight with the a few muggers. His energy expended on Shadow-Travel, he is unable to fight back. When he is about to get thrown in a dumpster and robbed, an unusual figure is spotted by him. Will Nico get accepted into the batfamily? Or will he forever remain an outcast to them?
