Set in a time in Nigeria where religion and government work together to correct "difference", Efe learns that survival depends on pretending.
After his father sells him to a state approved religious institution just after witnessing him murder his mother in a heated argument, Efe is trapped in a system designed to fix boys who do not fit society's idea of a man. Inside, obedience is rewarded, resistance is punished, and those who fail to respond to treatment begin to die gothically.
As fear closes in, Efe forms an unexpected bond with another boy, one built on shared silences and dangerous honesty. In a place meant to erase them, connection becomes a form of defiance and they must stick together or risk dying in the carceral institution.
