His parents are mysteriously murdered, leaving Tommy as the one to discover their body. Instead of being sent to an orphanage, a seemingly kind family offers to adopt him. Are they really as much of a normal family as they aspire to be?

Tommy and his best friend Tubbo are stoked to learn that there's a place they can 'hide away' all summer. An old house from some part of Tommy's family that one of his aunts agreed to let them stay in. Problem is, there's a sort of 'local legend' going around, that say the house is haunted by the ghosts of the old residents, that died of somewhat questionable circumstances. A house fire, that no one seems to know how it was caused. Tommy and Tubbo aren't at all worried though. Because, ghosts aren't real!...right?

But the house and the warm, yellow light from the windows made him keep going, despite his hopeless situation. Tommy 'Innit' wasn't shocked when he one day discovered that he was a shapeshifter, but kept it secret from the rest off the world, since hybrids and magical creatures often got bullied at the orphanage, where Tommy grew up. Soon, Tommy realized that he could use his new power to run away from his life as an orphan. He bought a backpack, stole some money and food, before leaving, hopefully for good. Now, Tommy has lived in the wild for almost two months, and things have started to go downhill - fast. It's autumn, Tommy is injured and no one seems to be nearby to help him.
