Bruised, silent, and clinging to survival, the child becomes more than just a responsibility. To Captain Price, Ghost, Soap, and Gaz, she becomes a symbol of everything they're fighting to save in a world torn apart by violence. But every step they take with her puts all of them in greater danger. And in the midst of chaos, 141 learns that sometimes the smallest soul can leave the biggest mark on hardened soldiers' hearts.

Exhausted and sleep deprived, a simple error in reaction time, put Simon 'Ghost' Riley, on mandatory sick leave after catching a sniper bullet. An order from Price, to get off base, left him searching for a place to recuperate. He never would have thought that an advert in a military bulletin board would change his life forever and heal more than his bullet wound. Short story based in the modern warfare universe, but doesn't follow the timeline. This was a fluff piece I'd started to distract me from being stuck on another story. Rather than struggle to make a full story from just an arc, I decided to keep it as a short story. Enjoy xx

An expert forensic team are called to the base to investigate a digital security breach, leading to the 141 team hosting one of the investigators. Their temporary guest, a rather odd young woman, seems to have an extreme and rather troubling reaction to Ghost's presence. But when clues to her strange behaviour are uncovered, Ghost's anger and suspicious nature gets the best of him and his quest for answers, forces him to face the darkest parts of himself. So this is a wee bit different. This story formed part of a longer work in progress. However, as that story grew, it was clear that this arc, added an unnecessarily complicated aspect to my main protagonist. Rather than let the longer story get too messy, I decided to make this a short story on it's own. The character is similar but I did end up changing her name and back story.

Already on a downward spiral of self-destruction, and at his lowest point, Ghost is thrust into a mission to stop a terrorist attack with hostages. When the mission goes sideways, he finds himself trapped and injured. However, an unexpected encounter brings a flicker of light and hope in the darkness. When that light is cruelly snuffed out, it only reminds him of everything he has lost and hastens his descent. With nothing left to live for, a second chance emerges, a new flicker of light.
