Brand New Day follows Valerie, a young Newsie in 1899 Manhattan, as she records her thoughts in a journal she will slowly grow to love. She uses this journal to figure herself out, finding information about her past. Through her writing, her world slowly unfolds; from her routines with Jack and Crutchie to the pressure of surviving day by day in a city that does not make things easy for people like them.
