Catherine Hale didn't come back to start over.
She came back for him.
Six years ago, she left without a word. No explanation, no goodbye, no chance for Alex Vescari to understand why the girl who once promised him everything simply disappeared from his life.
He was eighteen. She was seventeen. And whatever they had... didn't survive her silence.
Now they're older.
He's twenty-four, sharper, colder, built on control and discipline, the kind of man who doesn't chase anything that once chose to leave him.
She's twenty-three, carrying answers she still can't fully give, and a decision she never got the chance to explain.
And this time, Catherine doesn't run.
She walks straight into his world. Into his company. Under his authority. Because she didn't return for closure. She returned to win him back.
Alex, however, has no intention of making it easy.
He listens to everyone except her. He trusts no one especially her. And every word she tries to say is met with silence, distance, or something far worse.
But for all his control, there's one thing that hasn't managed to change: Alex Vescari is afraid of loosing her.
Her conversations.
Her laughter.
Her presence.
And that contradiction, the distance he enforces and the fear he can't let go of, becomes the space where everything begins to unravel again.
Because Catherine Hale didn't come back to be forgiven.
She came back to stay.
And Alex Vescari?
He may never admit it -
But he was never ready to let her go either.
