She has survived. For twenty years she has been running through the woods with the sole purpose of finding a pack that will take her in. Only problem is that no pack in their right minds would take in a scrawling unmated weakling like her. However, what she lacks in strength she makes up with determination. She is set on no longer being a lone wolf. He wants nothing more than to be left alone, but for a strong dominate male like him, it is wishful thinking. Even after going Rogue he is still hounded by the mistakes he has made, the packs he has crossed, and the wolves he has killed. A beast like him deserves to be left alone, to wallow in self-pity and hate until the day he dies. Was it fated that these two meet or sheer dumb luck?

My name is Aria Lewis and I hate that guy who dropped frozen fish sticks on my head, for obvious reasons. His name? Harry Styles. Please, my dear reader, know that I tried my hardest not to punch the git. It was just so hard. A story of the green-eyed monster, Harry's red cheeks and burnt rainbow cupcakes. Oops.

I glanced up from my iPhone to see a girl with straight black hair throwing herself on Harry Styles. He stumbled back as a security guard grabbed her and pulled her away from him. She started screaming and throwing her arms about. 'Harry, my love! NO! Don't let them take me away! Were destined for each other!' she burst out crying as Harry just stood there with a bewildered expression. I couldn't help the chuckle that escaped my mouth as the girl went past me. Harry's eyes landed on me and I just chuckled at the look on his face. He smirked at me and I looked away blushing. Why do I always blush?! I glanced up at Harry Styles again to see he was still looking at me with those piercing green eyes. A smile made its way onto my face without me realising, as he carried on looking at me; his fans started shoving things at him, but he never looked away. From the corner of my eye I could see the rest of the boys coming out, and the girls started squealing and shouting even louder! Harry only broke eye contact with me as Liam Payne patted him on the back and said something to him. I looked around me flustered. I'd forgotten about the other people in the alley way. I searched the crowd for India and found her at the front getting a picture with Niall and Louis. I smiled to myself, as I remembered those green eyes.

[NOTE: This book was written in 2010, a time of long-distance phone cards, weight-loss obsessions, and searching for a man as a solution to life's problems-what a messy time to be alive! In other words, I hope you enjoy this throwback, and while this book does end on a cliffhanger of sorts, the sequel addresses any unanswered questions (which is hopefully fair, given that book 1 is free, ya know?] An awkward family homecoming at Christmas. A humiliating public weigh-in, with two judging parents as the audience. The announcement of a deadline for arranged marriage doom. And that's just the first two chapters. In "Year of the Chick," Romi Narindra must find love before her parents find her a husband. Easy to say, less easy to live through, as this book takes you deep inside "awkward Indian living in the West." To escape her fate, Romi wades through the waters of secret-dating, where self-consciousness is at an all-time high, and experience at an all-time low. It's the sort of thing that would turn almost anyone into a man-crazy freak with romance tunnel-vision, and that's exactly what ends up happening. All the while, a lack of inspiration in her corporate job leads Romi to her love of writing, in what quickly becomes a man-quest play-by-play. From whiskey-breath scum bags to uni-brow creeps and everything in between, Romi and her wingmen come up empty time after time. And that's when she meets a fellow writer. On the Internet. So will it be arranged marriage doom, or an Internet affair that's not as creepy as "To Catch a Predator"? Time will tell in the "year of the chick," a twelve-month quest to find love. Tick-tock. --------------------------------------------- "Year of the Chick" is book one of a series, and book two is available at Amazon! LENGTH: 75,000 words or 285 pages DISCLAIMER: this book contains profanities, blunt accounts of the dating scene, and many awkward family moments. Enjoy!
