In therapy, healing did have a shadow.

A story for black girls who are living the best way they know how with what they were dealt.
This story follows Girly a month after she was released from her three month stay at an inpatient treatment center regarding her disordered eating. Conflicted by the ending of her not so recent breakup and much more, read as she walks us through her present life, obsessively reflecting on the past.
Her mandatory therapy, maybe good for her at first, becomes a pawn in her dismay. Self aware of who she is, she still cycles through her own self destructive impulses, searching for meaning in her life with fleeting moments of comfort through old habits, life, and work in the entertainment industry.
Time moves depressingly slow in this waiting game of her life. Long, isolated days in bed journaling. An overwhelming desire to be understood, and to understand. She takes us along this journey of false hope and self-discovery.
See her thoughts become louder over time.
This is not a love story.
(writing a story that is built from experiences throughout my life, current events, and my thoughts. just putting it all into words, into a character. it's not all just about me though, it's about the characters too. this is their story too. i just like to write. it's a form of venting for me. read if you like or if you're nosy and interested in a deep dive into my life)
ITS LIKE MY PERSONAL DIGITAL JOURNAL
(the doctor in my book isn't a real person from my life, he's just meant to represent everything all in one, a cycle, he's symbolic, and how for the main character, all roads lead to rome)
(ai for spelling fixes and punctuation clean up, that's it. if you see em dashes or semicolons, i put it there. otherwise, my own writing is mine mine mine)
