After an attack from Dr. Robotnik, Sonic and his friends didn't realize that the experiment lab had a grenade locked in there. Sonic decided to go in himself, but Amy followed him to make sure he was safe. Sonic found out she was there and not able to stop the grenade in time, covered her with his body so she wouldn't die. Little did they know that a new unfinished experiment would stop the grenade and explode on Sonic, making his already existing love for Amy multiply a hundred times fold.
