Instead Jonah wakes in a world where believers--especially Christians--have no legal rights. Like the Jews in Nazi Germany, Christians are no longer officially humans. They're dragged without trial to the Circus, humiliated, beaten, and sent into cryonic exile. After thousands of years, they'll suffer true future shock in a world totally unfamiliar.

Forced into marriage to an older man, Lucilla, daughter of Roman Emperor Marcus Aurelius, indulges in material wealth, gladiatorial games, and sexual pleasures. After Lucilla is exiled to the Isle of Capri in the year 182, she hears about a plan to kill her. In desperation she begs Nerva, a wizard, for help. Since the Emperor forbade boat owners to carry Lucilla, Nerva offers her a dangerous alternative: a time portal to hide her on Capri in another century. With assassins closing in, Lucilla barely escapes, stepping through the portal into the middle of a hazardous OSS Mission during World War Two in the year 1942. There Mark Costello, an Italian-American OSS agent, saves her life. After recovering from her shock of the 20th Century, Lucilla agrees to help liberate Italy from Nazi Oppression if Mark will return her to the past when it's safer. Her whole-hearted work in an unselfish cause transforms Lucilla's heart and brings her real love for the first time in her life.
