She had spent years learning to stay away from things that were never made easy for her.
Dancing was one of them.
So when Advait held out his hand that night, she only stared at it.
"I can't dance."
He stepped closer, his voice barely above a whisper.
"I didn't ask you to dance alone, biwi."
Before she could argue, he gently took her hand and helped her rise. Then, with the same patience he had shown her in a hundred little ways before, he guided her until she was standing on his feet.
She looked at him, uncertain.
He only brushed his cheek lightly against hers.
"Just stay with me."
And he moved slowly--carefully--giving her time to find her balance, until somewhere between one step and the next, she stopped thinking about falling.
For a few quiet minutes, she forgot all the things she had spent years teaching herself to be afraid of.
And perhaps that was what Advait had changed without ever asking her to change-
he had become the one place where she no longer felt the need to keep her walls standing.
