"Look at me when I'm talkin', ma," Kyron whispered to her, lifting the tip of her chin so she could look him in the eyes.
She felt her cheeks flush from the proximity between them. Being this close to him always did something to her, and she hated how much she liked it.
"What?" she asked. "I thought you like me bein' bad?" A smirk crept across her lips.
He chuckled softly, his two fingers still holding onto her chin while maintaining eye contact with her. Neither of them looked away. The chemistry between them was obvious, sitting heavy in the space between their bodies.
"Oh, I love it, ma." He smiled in a way that led to no good. "I just don't like bein' played with."
"I ain't nobody playin' witchu," she told him. "Remember that you told me... we're not together."
"And to keep shi P." Then she held up her fingers, forming a 'P'.
He looked her up and down before looking back into her eyes, and she held his gaze. She was the only girl who could do that and make him feel nervous. There was just something about her. The way she held eye contact without backing down always threw him off a little, even if he'd never admit it.
For a few seconds, neither of them spoke. They just stood there looking at each other.
"Bet." That's all he said.
