Life within the walls was fine, it was safe. It kept us inside and the beasts outside. We have been living in these walls for the last 30 years; ever since the beast uprising the world has become twisted. The human race isn't the top of the food chain anymore. Being inside those walls kept us safe but kept us from the truth.
