Ever since they were babies, Odell and Nalani had been in and out of group homes. Odell never knew who his dad was and his mother died while giving birth to him. Nalani and Odell both grew up in the same group home, so the older they got, the closer they became friends. As years went by, and as Nalani became older, she jumped from group home to group home. She'd often question herself, "Why doesn't anyone want me?" She would often think about her old best friend Odell, and how he has a family now that loved him like he was their own. And that made her sad. Sad to the point where she became depressed. She slacked off in school then altogether, she dropped out. Once Nalani turned eighteen, she "aged out" of the foster care system and was finally an adult. When she got out, she didn't know what she wanted to do. Who she wanted to be. Or how she wanted to live her life. All she wanted was to know how it felt to be loved.
