Nearly a year after Chance's disappearance, the trail goes cold-until Mafioso and his crew uncover a hidden lab buried beneath silence and blood. What they find inside isn't a rescue. It's a ruin. A single document taped beside a torn containment cell reveals the truth: "Subject 053 - formerly Chance." The person they were searching for is gone. In his place stands something altered beyond recognition-feral, silent, and conditioned to obey a number instead of a name. Six wings, a restrained voice, and a body marked by unnatural experimentation turn him into something the world was never meant to see... or survive. He doesn't remember them. He doesn't speak. And yet-he doesn't attack. While the crew debates whether to eliminate the threat, Mafioso makes a different choice: He takes 053 with him. Not because it's safe. Not because it's logical. But because somewhere beneath the mask, the mutations, and the conditioning... he refuses to believe Chance is completely gone.

Ten months after abandoning the Journalist on Snaktooth Island, the surviving Grumpuses return expecting ruins, regret, and maybe a chance to make things right. Instead, they find Eggabell and Elizabert still alive... and guarded by something they barely recognize. After being left behind and subjected to brutal experiments by hidden Grumpuses, the Journalist has been transformed into a towering, feral creature with shattered memories, animal instincts, and only one purpose left: protect the only two who stayed. As old friends become unwanted intruders, buried guilt rises to the surface and Snaktooth Island begins changing in ways no one understands. The Bugsnax are watching. The island is evolving. And the monster they created may be the only thing keeping them alive. A dark alternate ending to *Bugsnax* about abandonment, survival, identity, and what remains when someone is left behind.

After the events of the Grove Temple, Arlo should be recovering. Instead, they're forcing themself through daily life while hiding worsening injuries from nearly dying to stop the Gardener from resetting Einar. Einar remembers them. Mostly. But fragments of corrupted memory and the terror of almost losing his continuity leave the Galdur changed in ways neither of them know how to handle. Quietly terrified of forgetting Arlo - or losing them entirely - Einar begins clinging to the one constant he still trusts. Meanwhile, Kilima keeps moving as if nothing happened. Fishing trips continue. Research still needs doing. Quests pile up. Life goes on. And somewhere beneath all of it, both of them are trying to survive what almost happened in the temple.
