It has been over 250 years since half of humanity became mutated and became "cattle". Half of those who managed to not be devoured ran underground to escape and have been there ever since. For 250 years the people underground, simply called the "underground" have been living, feeding on the mutated humans they call "cattle" that are brought to them by fearless hunters and those turning 18 on their birthday month. There is a belief in the underground that a book- a book made of human flesh contains the secrets of how to turn cattle back into normal humans and restart life on the surface. This story focuses on one member of the underground named Theo and how him trekking to the surface on his 18th birthday month, changed humanity, a crushed a belief that was held in the underground for over 250 years.
