This summer's wild and I've been waiting for you all this time I adore you -Lana del Rey
This is a short story with long detailed chapters !!!
Suki May hasn't felt like herself in two years.
Since her father passed away, the world has felt smaller. Safer that way. She keeps to herself, stays close to her mom, and avoids anything - or anyone - that might require too much energy to face.
So when her mother signs her up for a two-week summer camp near the beach, it feels like betrayal.
Suki has social anxiety.
She doesn't like crowds.
And she definitely doesn't like being forced into "life-changing experiences."
But she doesn't get a choice.
Coney Riggs is the counselor everyone loves. The reliable one. The warm smile. The steady presence. Camp is his escape - a place where he can breathe, laugh, and forget about everything waiting for him back home.
He's good with people. He's patient. He's sunshine in human form.
And then there's Suki.
Moody. Guarded. Impossible.
She doesn't laugh at his jokes. She doesn't fall for the charm. If anything, he irritates her - and she makes that very clear.
What starts as tension slowly becomes something softer. Bonfires. Late-night talks. Shared silences that feel different from lonely ones.
A connection neither of them planned for.
Because sometimes healing doesn't come in grand gestures.
Sometimes it comes in the form of one person who sees you - even when you're trying your hardest not to be seen.
