Codie Lynn is new to town and the job she snags is easy, she works at the cafe down the street from the circus that just moved to town, but gossip is the first thing she hears on the first day, not to mention she has her first encounter with one of the circus members, Pierrot, one with not so many words on the street but has many when it's just the two of them. Codie is quick to learn about his family, just like she's quick to pick the feelings the supposed to be quiet clown gains for her. But with what comes feelings, also comes suspicious and cautious eyes from a few members of the circus, the main one being Jester who doesn't trust Codie, no matter how Pierrot persists their feelings for each other are genuine, and once Codie realizes she's not trusted, she does everything in her power to work on gaining the trust that was once lost. Even if it means looking the other way when bodies come up missing especially, when one of those bodies becomes her very own.
