Two years have passed since Yoshiki and 'Hikaru' have moved to Tokyo. They have managed to create a life together in the city, and everything feels like a dream. But like all dreams, they must come to an end. Or the monster's journey to love.

Yoshiki awakens to another bland day in the village,-Kubitatchi. The sun dances around his face, the heat encompassing his flesh until he rolls away. The boys thoughts obsess over his life, his mistakes, Hikaru. He never told him.. On a friendly excursion, everything appears so ordinary for the pair that nobody would question his mirage. Except Yoshiki, of course. In fact, Yoshiki spends most of his time scrutinizing this other Hikaru; his grey eyes, stubby nose, pale skin. Even his voice and personality. Apparently indistinguishable. Hikaru's presence had always brought comfort to Yoshiki, they had become each other's sanctuary, and it was supposed to stay that way. So when Hikaru confessed, Yoshiki crushed his feelings right away-but that only made Hikaru grow greedier for his affection. He was willing to go to great lengths just to have him-even if it meant throwing their friendship out the window.

Hikaru died. Yoshiki, his best friend, is the only one who knows. "Hikaru", instead, tries his best to get Yoshiki to like him, but the weight of wearing his best friend's corpse feels like something that can't be forgiven. To Yoshiki, getting to know this new Hikaru isn't so bad, but the grief of not recognizing his best friend is eating him up. Can they really keep on living together, like one's life was made for the other?
