To the rest of the world, Michael Jackson is a legend who lives behind giant iron gates. He is a man who has everything, yet he lives like a ghost in his own home. He is used to being stared at, but he isn't used to being understood. After years of fame, he has started to believe the mean things people say about him, and he hides from his own reflection.
Then he meets Clara Willow.
Clara is a quiet librarian who loves old books and peaceful places. She doesn't care about the fame or the "King of Pop" title. She only cares about the man she sees when the cameras are turned off-the man who is kind, gentle, and often very lonely.
While the world outside makes a lot of noise, Michael and Clara find a quiet place together in his library. Under the soft light of a green lamp, they finally feel safe. Michael protects Clara from the crowds, and in return, Clara helps Michael see himself in a new way.
She begins to write stories and letters just for him, acting as a "Poet" who reminds the "King" that he is a good man and a beautiful soul. A King and a Poet is a story about two people from different worlds who find exactly what they were looking for. A place where they can finally be themselves.
