Becca thought she knew love the day she met Lee.
He was dependable. Safe. Sure, in every way that mattered to her. Attention turned to affection. Affection turned to obsession. And obsession slowly became the life she constructed around him and only him.
Until she had a family of her own and found herself smiling less and less. Living smaller and smaller until her whole existence quieted down to accommodate the person sitting across from her at the dinner table every night.

It didn't happen overnight.
Love never does.
There were no real breaking points. Just subtle ones. Words that turned into silences. Silences that turned into apologies. Apologies that turned into more silence. And that silence-it stretched on to become everything she used to be.
She stayed, though.
Because the alternative seemed impossible.
Leaving felt like failure.
It wasn't until tragedy struck that she was forced to take a step back. Life-real life-happened to her while she was losing herself with Lee. And when she finally resurfaced, everything she tried to hold on to was gone.
After Lee, Becca decides she will never lose herself again.
Healing isn't that easy, though.
After finding herself falling into the arms of another man who reflected everything she thought she ran from, she learns a devastating truth: sometimes the hardest part of a relationship isn't watching someone walk away-it's realizing what you were willing to compromise just to keep them.
The boy she let get away comes back into the picture.
Craig was never a part of her life with Lee.
He was a part of life before Lee.
And he brought with him things Becca hadn't felt in so long... love that made her feel big. Love that didn't require her to fade into the background. Love that didn't feel like she was simply surviving.
The problem was that Becca had gone too far down a path of heartbreak to trust that feeling again.
An emotionally complex story of mothers and loss and realizing what you are really worth.
