-when you judge others, you lose the opportunity to make a new friend.
This is Lawrence "Lawrie" Belitz's backstory about his childhood growing up in New York City. Before Lawrie became a soldier, a sergeant, a war hero and the sensation of America at war, people simply knew him for being an illegitimate child. He was taught never to judge others, yet others judged him for something he had absolutely no control over. This is a story about resilience, family, friendship, and also how harmful it can be to others when they are judged.
