My name is Lura Grimes, but most people call me Viper.
There's a reason for that name.
I don't play games. I don't give empty warnings, and I sure as hell don't let anyone walk all over me. Usually, you'll find my viper curled comfortably around my neck, and if that doesn't warn people to think twice before testing me, the magic glowing from my hands normally does.
I'm twenty-four years old, and my magic doesn't come with limits. I can use as much as I want, whenever I want, without getting tired, weak, or burned out.
Then the world ends.
Walkers start tearing through everything, people become just as dangerous as the dead, and suddenly survival means making hard choices before someone else makes them for you.
Good thing I've never had a problem doing that.
The biggest problem?
My father, Rick Grimes.
I love my dad, but somewhere along the way, Rick gets it into his head that being my father means he gets to boss me around. Tell me where I can go. Who I can protect. What risks I'm allowed to take. Maybe even how I should use my own damn magic.
Yeah.
That's not happening.
I'm not Carl. I'm not a scared little girl who needs permission. I'm a grown woman with enough power to completely change how this apocalypse plays out, and if I build a haven, protect a group, or make a rule, Rick is going to learn one thing very quickly:
**Being my father doesn't make him my leader.**
He can argue.
He can glare.
He can pull out that sheriff voice all he wants.
I'm still not backing down.
Because in this new world, Rick Grimes might be used to everyone following his orders...
But the Viper bows to no one.
