"So what's your name?" "Robin." "Robin like the bird Robin or Robin like from the DC comics?" I can tell he's trying to make a joke. People have already asked me that "question" and it's become rather irritating over the past few years since everyone decided to grow up and become a bitch. Even though my brain knows it's an annoying comment, I feel the urge to laugh since it's coming from him. Maybe it's because I find him somewhat attractive, I mean I didn't even know his name until five seconds ago. "Like me dumbass," I reply to his stupid joke question. -Best Thing in Town Series; Book 2: Sassafras Roots- -Hateful comments will be deleted- -There will be mature topics discussed and smut- -I only own the story plot and my made-up characters- -There will be warnings for what the chapter contains at the top of the chapter- -Please don't be a silent reader! Enjoy!-

Woodstock, 1994.
Collin Grey doesn't belong in the fluorescent lit future that haunts her. A safe, quiet life that fits like someone else's jacket. The cookie cutter American dream. She doesn't quite belong in the chaos, either. So when her best friend drags her to a muddy music festival halfway across the country, she goes, not to rebel, just to breathe. She's not looking to be found. Especially not by Billie Joe Armstrong. He's the kind of alive that makes her nervous grinning through the wreckage, loud without apology. The lead singer of a band she barely listens to, the kind of person who sees right through people like her: the quiet ones. The scared ones. The ones who want more but don't know how to ask. When a rainstorm turns the festival into a swamp of music and chaos, Collin is forced to face everything she's been avoiding, herself included. But Billie? He's not just a distraction. He might be the reckoning. For all his noise, listens in a way no one else ever has. He doesn't try to fix her. He just sees her. It's not a love story. Not yet. But it's the start of something. Something messy & loud.
