Security specialist Gat Burroughs died once and he'll be damned if he lets it happen again. Unfortunately, somebody is determined to kill his client, a washed-up star named Max Prince, and isn't afraid to go through Gat to do it. Is it Max's debauched granddaughter and heir? Is it the deadly Suerte y Muerte, a cult that kills to steal good luck? Is it Max's own lawyer and manager, James Jerome? And how on earth did the would-be assassin get past Max Prince's top-grade AI, the one that's adopted the likeness of computer pioneer Alan Turing? Gat will have to follow the clues through L.A.'s underworld, the slums of Mexico City, and his own guilty past to find the surprising answer. “A great science fiction detective story ” - Ian Watson, author of "The Universal Machine: From the Dawn of Computing to Digital Consciousness" ** The Gat Burroughs Series ** This is the first book in the Gat Burroughs series, which includes novels and shorter fiction. Gat Burroughs is a security specialist in Los Angeles after The Fall -- not so much an apocalypse as a social collapse that changed the world he knew. The United States has been replaced by the enclaves -- former states and megacities that are now nations. Large swaths of the country have collapsed utterly, regressing to pre-technological Grey Zones. Even in L.A., which remains largely intact, the polite face of democracy has largely been stripped away and the gap between the haves and the have-nots has become a vast gulf, with little space in between. But Gat is determined to find a way to make a life for himself without compromising his humanity. "Los Angeles Honey" -- coming soon.

It's the real world, but it isn't. Secrets and dangers lurk below the surface - as well as slavers, strange creatures and a shifting wasteland where humans were once gods. You just need to open your eyes to see past the illusion. You just need to wake up. Meet Anna - a 21 year old cardigan-wearing English major - whose world falls apart when she stumbles home slightly drunk and sees a man dissolve into thin air. From there, hijinks ensue - as hot baristas, Hierarchs, slavers and acid rain make sure to severely disrupt the last year of her degree. She's uncovered a dangerous new world - but soon realises that the truest danger is inside her own skin. *** Jake gazed at me with his pale green eyes and reclined backwards onto his elbows. I realised that the metal on his hands continued up his forearms under his long-sleeved shirt. It was as if his skin had been stripped away, revealing nothing but a machine underneath. “You are a Waker. So am I. And we’re in the unworld right now. Welcome.” He grinned at me without any humour. “We’re in the middle of a war, and you and me are the soldiers on the front line.” For a few long moments I couldn’t speak. Then I cleared my throat and said, “You and I.” *** Follow her journals, music and thoughts as she realises that it isn't real. "In the end, death waits for no one." When Reagan Ortega's brother is accused of killing an innocent man, Reagan knows something is wrong. Her dependable brother, Rick, a murderer? Impossible. As she begins to uncover dangerous secrets, she finds that some people will do whatever it takes to keep the truth buried. A truth that may reveal the death penalty to be more than an ending. With suspicions of government corruption, shady cops watching her every move, and questionable alliances with wanted criminals, Reagan may just be buried along with the truth. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Cover by @_kaylaxmarie

His job is made all the more difficult because clones don't talk -and neither do the dead. Anderson has to decide whether he fears the illegal world of custom-made humans more than he loves paper. And he really loves paper. A hard-boiled, noir private detective mystery with a sci-fi twist. **Making it up as I go so suggestions and guesses on where the plot is going would be helpful.

Look at this collection as your very own inter-dimensional portal, one that spans multiple genres and niches, from hard-boiled noir and space opera, to wuxia and pulp adventure. In these very short stories, readers will be transported to strange new worlds via brief encounters, often less than 100 words at a time. Along the way, you'll meet a global cast from all eras: an intrepid Lakota teen sleuth, a white-knuckled treasure-hunter, an overseas Filipina care-giver who's embraced the So-Cal lifestyle, and a daring spy investigating reports of Nazi occult activity, to name just a few. If you ever wanted to fight alongside Mexican seinen heroes, break out from a deadly supermax prison, or witness young lovers awkwardly critiquing globalization, then join me for these Adventures in Brevity.
