Zhongli to Childe was a mystery. The fatui harbinger had never seen Zhongli express his emotions openly and could manage to go on for hours about a story without exposing anything about himself or his life. He never missed a day of work despite having boring shifts, he always turned up on time and never gave any disrespect to Hu Tao despite hating her at the beginning. Zhongli and Hu Tao's business relationship turned for the better, despite the pair denying it. So it was weird to Childe when he arrived to the Wangsheng Funeral Parlor at Zhongli's lunch break, even Hu Tao was surprised the man hadn't shown up for work. That wasn't even the tip of the iceberg of weirdness the male was about to experience throughout the day.

The Pyro Gnosis has been claimed. With all seven Gnoses in the Tsaritsa's possession, the final fight to free Teyvat from Celestia's reign and the Abyss' terror draws close. Summoned to Snezhnaya to fulfil their roles in the upcoming battle, Childe and Zhongli find themselves travelling aboard the same ship when a storm hits, stranding them in Childe's hometown of Morepesok. Forced into close proximity with both his father and Zhongli, Childe is forced to confront the unresolved tensions in each relationship whilst readying himself for the battle he's spent a lifetime preparing for. Meanwhile, Zhongli must fight to learn how to love the man who seems determined to subdue the feelings lingering between them. Then, just when Zhongli thinks their situation can't become any more complicated, the unveiling of a decade-held secret threatens to steal away the perfect future he's been longing for.

Liyue was... interesting, to say the least. Its harbor, to which Childe was set to on yet another glorious (utterly ridiculous) mission by Her Majesty, the Tsaritsa, was too hot, too crowded for Childe's liking. And yet, there was something about it that made him want to stay. Perhaps it was the way the breeze faintly smelled of the ocean and fish, the way Morepesok did, or maybe it was because Liyue Harbor was simply so alive. Or maybe, just maybe, it was because those amber eyes were far too enticing to leave behind, even if they were the eyes of his enemy.
