James Hollis has spent her entire life learning how to live with ghosts.
Not the kind that haunt houses, but the kind that linger in empty spaces, unfinished conversations, and stretches of Wyoming land that seem to remember more than they should.
Raised in a Wyoming grown family with roots deeper than most people realize, James knows there are things in the world that can't be explained. Her older brother left town carrying secrets he refuses to share. Her family speaks of certain places in lowered voices. And sometimes, when the wind shifts just right, James swears the land is listening.
She works at the edge of a small town and in the open country, where livestock auctions and endless plains keep life predictable enough to survive on. But predictability has never been something that lasts for long around her.
As strange patterns begin to surface across the land and long-buried histories refuse to stay hidden, James finds herself pulled toward answers she never asked for. Some truths are inherited. Some are discovered too late. And some places do not let themselves be forgotten.
When the ground beneath her life begins to change, James has to decide what she is willing to believe-and what she is willing to lose in order to understand it.
