I'm still recovering from episode 18 of season 8 of The Rookie, the season finale and a very traumatic cliffhanger. This story directly follows the events at the end of the episode and writing it will help me get over the trauma and wait for season 9.

This is what I imagine (want) to happen straight after season 6 ended (Aaron is still in the story despite him having confirmed he won't be in season 7), focus on Chenford, slow burn. The Oscar/Jason storyline is incorporated from season 6 but not Monica. Lucy sets out to prove herself again as a good cop after her disaster with the detective's exam. Will the awkwardness between Chenford be resolved? Or will it all come to a head? Disclaimer - I have stayed true to each character's mannerisms in the show, so if you're looking for a story where Tim calls Lucy his pookie princess and is overly gushy, you won't find that here. I have remained as realistic as I can with each character's actions, behaviours and words.

Lucy joined the LAPD in hopes to find a way to escape her abuser. She meets her new TO who is hard on her. She tries to learn the ropes but when she keeps getting abused physically and sexually at home, it makes it hard for her to. She starts to lose her hope and struggles mentally after she was abducted. Her TO starts to see through her lies. Will she escape? How will her relationship with her TO change? What will happen to her abuser? ~This is similar to my story Help Me but Lucy doesn't have a kid in this one so I can make more things happen!~ *Trigger warning: rape, alcoholism, self harm, suicidal thoughts, abuse, and language* Disclaimer: I do not own The Rookie or any of the characters in this franchise! Except for Luke, he is my original character.

Lucy finds a mysterious, beat-up notebook while cleaning out the precinct locker room. It's titled: "Rookie Survival Guide - Chen Edition (Do Not Touch, Seriously, Stop Reading)" It's Tim Bradford's private collection of sarcastic notes, advice, and personal observations from her rookie year. Like: "Rule #14: If Chen smiles before a prank, duck." "Rule #27: She asks too many questions, but they're usually good. Don't tell her that." "Rule #39: If she ever flirts - don't get your hopes up. She's not serious. (I think.)" Lucy's both mortified and weirdly touched. So, naturally, she writes her own version: "The Bradford Manual - Emotional Walls Edition." Cue a hilarious, flirty back-and-forth war of notebooks, pranks, and secret notes... that slowly turn into something deeper.

The night is winding down. Music plays. Lucy's seated at the edge of the dance floor, sipping champagne, watching couples sway. Tim, in a crisp suit with his tie loosened, approaches and casually asks, "Wanna dance?" Lucy hesitates. It's not like him. Not in that way. They start dancing - slow, uncertain. Close, but not too close. But then the silence fills with questions and quiet truths.
