His hand reached forward and the warm contact of his palm with my bloodily bruised and cold cheek was merely enough to ignite me with a minuscule amount of energy. I...I can't bear it--I can't bear to see you like this..." He continued to whisper sweet words and promises, but I tuned it out. I tuned it out and a faint smile painted my pale face, because the only thing that I could think of was that he was here. He was here with me.
