Tim Bradford is used to being in control. Lucy Chen is used to making sure that doesn't last very long. So when an undercover assignment forces them into a situation neither of them could have possibly prepared for, the two sergeants quickly discover that maintaining a convincing cover is harder than catching criminals. With their coworkers watching from the sidelines, Lucy having far too much fun with the assignment, and Tim's patience being tested at every possible opportunity, one thing becomes clear: This is going to be a very long operation. And Tim may not survive it with his dignity intact. 😂

Based on the rookie TW: WILL CONTAIN SMUT! Lucy's spent four months telling herself it's enough. Chris is kind. He's steady. He's... fine. But fine doesn't keep her up at night wondering what she's missing. Fine doesn't explain why every time they're together she has to pretend - pretend she feels something she simply doesn't, pretend the disappointment isn't crushing her every single time, pretend size doesn't matter, that effort doesn't matter, that being left wanting every single time doesn't slowly hollow you out inside. It's not his fault, she tells herself. He's just... small. In every way that counts. And Lucy - quietly, achingly - is tired of settling. Tired of faking it. Tired of leaving every encounter feeling empty and unseen. Until the night she finally walks away. Until the night everything changes. Until the man she's loved longer than she's been willing to admit shows her exactly what she's been craving all along - passion, depth, intensity, and a connection so overwhelming it leaves her breathless and completely, utterly satisfied in a way she never even dared to imagine was possible. For the first time in her life, she doesn't have to pretend. She doesn't have to lie. She doesn't have to settle. But when morning brings more than just happy memories - when a sudden, terrifying realisation changes everything - Lucy is left wondering: was it worth it? Or has she ruined the best thing she's ever found, before it even truly began? (IF U CAME FROM MY ONESHOTS CONTINUE FROM THE CHAPTER NAMED ALL YOU HAVE TO DO IS ASK)

He won't ever throw away his integrity like that, no matter the cost. "I don't need that kind of money. I don't even want it," he had told Everett during the arrest, and he hasn't changed his mind on that. "Maintaining my integrity? That's priceless." "This mistake will come back to haunt you," he had responded. "You have my word on that." "In that case," Everett responds, smiling eerily, "You really should've just gone to jail."

They said it was over. Not in a clean, mutual way-but in the kind of ending that still lingers in every silence, every glance, every moment they almost speak but don't. Lucy Chen and Tim Bradford haven't been the same since the breakup. Work is awkward. Conversations are shorter. Everything feels carefully controlled... like if they don't touch the past, it won't cut them again. Then the storm hits. A joint case forces them out of the city and into a small, rundown hotel with no power, no signal-and only one available room. One bed. Now they're stuck with the one thing they've been avoiding the most: each other. And somewhere between the silence, the memories, and the space they pretend doesn't matter... it gets harder to remember why they ended in the first place. Because some hearts don't stop loving just because they were told to stop.

Tim's mouth was on her neck before she even got her jacket off, Lucy's back hitting the wall of the hallway as she tugged at his belt. "She'll be home in thirty minutes," he muttered against her skin, and Lucy just laughed softly, already wrapping one leg around him. "Then we'll be quick." It was almost mechanical at this point - familiar and practiced, like they'd done this a hundred times before because they had. Tim hitched her up, and Lucy's fingers dug into his shoulders as she guided him exactly where she needed him, no hesitation, no fumbling. She'd stopped feeling guilty months ago; now it just felt like routine, like something built into both their schedules that neither of them questioned anymore. He was rougher than he used to be - less careful, more impatient - and she didn't mind. When he pushed into her she let out a breath that was more relief than surprise, her head falling back against the wall. Twenty-eight minutes, she thought, and then stopped thinking altogether.

"We're not doing matching outfits," Lucy muttered, glaring at the floral shirt in her hands. Tim leaned on the doorway with a smirk. "Says the woman who just married me in front of three agents and a box of Krispy Kremes." "Fake married." "Fake hot for me, too?" She threw the shirt at his face. "Don't flatter yourself, Bradford. I only pretend when I have to."
