That Yuna and David Hollander just treated Ilya as their son as well. --- I got the inspiration to write this after seeing Sidney Crosby and Alex Ovechkin's final face-off in what could be their last game on the ice. It made me think about what Ilya and Shane might be like if they choose to keep their relationship private and retire on their own terms.

Falling into the Heated Rivalry rabbit hole was absolutely not on my 2025 bingo card-but a few Tarlos pages I follow on IG kept posting about Shane and Ilya, and well... here we are. I read Heated Rivalry and The Long Game in three days, loved them to pieces, and couldn't believe how similar the series feels to the actual content and emotional beats of the books.
