Steve was a simple man. All he wanted in the world was to be clean and warm. And maybe (time permitting) to complete his set of toy soldiers. Also (if he was really indulging himself here), it'd be nice to sleep through the night uninterrupted, just once. And it'd be even nicer if Maisie Moore was there with him in his bed, pressed against him all night, clean and warm, maybe soft (he thought she looked soft).
