After their planet explodes, sentient machines called Cardbots travel to Earth, where they disguise themselves as regular vehicles until a young BMX rider befriends them and finds a device to power them up.

After becoming the heroes of Hot Wheels City, Team Hot Wheels must now prove they have the skills to thrill when the D.O.R.Cs come to town. Along the way they meet Team Cold Fusion, a group of racers just like. The two groups must work together to stop Garry and his D.O.R.C cars along. Will the two teams get along?
