Blood of the Dragon is my original reimagining and adaptation inspired by George R. R. Martin's Fire & Blood and the world of House of the Dragon. In this version of the story, Rhaenyra Targaryen is replaced by an original character, Princess Daeana Targaryen, the daughter and chosen heir of King Viserys I. While Daeana occupies Rhaenyra's place within the succession, she is her own character with a different personality, relationships, choices and path toward the Iron Throne. At the heart of this reimagining lies one question: What if Viserys had said yes? What if, instead of refusing his brother's desire to marry his daughter and heir, Viserys had granted Daemon Targaryen's wish? Blood of the Dragon follows the history that might have grown from that single decision. It is the story of a princess learning what it means to inherit a realm, of the Rogue Prince who becomes both her greatest challenge and safest refuge, and of a relationship forged long before either of them understand just how profoundly it will alter the future of House Targaryen.
