"If you think humiliation will make me afraid of you-" "Afraid?" He stopped in front of me and crouched, bringing us eye to eye. His gaze was sharp now. Focused. "No. Fear is crude. Temporary." He tilted his head, studying me like a puzzle he already knew the solution to. "What I want," he said quietly, "is obedience. And that only comes after hope." ☆★☆ Kayele thought the sea had already taken everything from her. Her freedom. Her kingdom. The man she loved. She was wrong. Captured by the King of the North and imprisoned, Kayele discovers that the darkness surrounding the throne is far older than any war between kingdoms. The sea has begun whispering to her again-and this time, something is answering. Then, the creature is dragged from the depths. A monster with sapphire scales. A voice that should not exist. And eyes that seem to remember things no monster should know. As Kayele is pulled deeper into the mysteries of the sea, she begins to uncover fragments of a truth that should have remained buried. The Jewel is gone. The King of the North is searching for something. And somewhere beyond the reach of maps, an ancient presence is watching. But the greatest danger may not be the creature thrown away by the sea. Because some songs are not meant to be heard. Some promises are not meant to be broken. And some things the sea takes... It never truly gives back. So pray the darkness won't fall upon you. ☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆ A BTS fanfiction. The characters DOES NOT resemble real people. Max Hayes never meant to buy a legend. When she signs the papers for Neverland Ranch, she thinks she is only buying land, a house, and a quiet place to start over. She does not know the property still has an owner who never left. Michael has been trapped here for years, bound by a curse that keeps him from crossing the gates. The world moved on. He did not. The ranch is his, and he guards it with a cold, restless fury. Strangers come and go. None of them stay long. Then Max arrives with boxes, music, and a stubborn kind of sunlight that refuses to be warned away. He shows himself the second night, standing at the edge of her bed like a warning she is not allowed to ignore. He expects fear. He expects her to run. Instead she stays, questions sharp and voice steady, even when the air turns ice-cold around her. What begins as protection turns into something sharper. He watches. She knows. The nights grow longer, the space between them thinner. One moment of fear pulls him close enough to touch. One reckless choice of hers leaves him fighting every instinct he has left. He is a ghost who cannot leave. She is the living girl who refuses to. word count: 26445

Oliver and I were not good friends. Never had been. It wasn't for lack of trying. No, it was simply because whenever we spoke we ended up shouting. It was almost like a curse. Every innocent "hello" came with the threat of something breaking in two. A wave or a nod could set off an explosion, and if unscathed one of us would surely have a bad fall somewhere in between. We could be tied to chairs, blindfolded and gagged, and one of us would still find a way to spontaneously combust in the other's presence. Don't get me wrong, the interaction could start off great, like the brightest and sunniest of days, not so much as a light breeze to knock you off your balance. It was possible. Unfortunately, the other was inevitable. See, the blue skies could just as easily transform into a dark poisonous violet, the weather turning inhospitable. Before long I'd find myself wading through the acrid swamps of a biological disaster zone. It sure made getting around Hogwarts into a sport of equal challenge, as I was forced to walk in the opposite direction whenever I saw him. Silly? Sure. But look, the ozone layer is weak enough as it is without our close proximity adding to the ever building fumes. But today was different. There was an opposing force - I needed him. And when I wanted something I was also a curse to be reckoned with. The curse that caused havoc between the two of us was strong too, sure. But the answer to which of the opposing forces was strongest remained to be seen. I knew I sure as hell wasn't going to let the corrosive energy between us win without a fight. I was going to be on my very best behaviour. Hazmat suit on. Goggles, gloves - the works. I found him in the gym down by the pitch. My imagination went haywire when I heard him grunting as he worked one of the machines and had to stifle visions of Oliver I refused to believe I was capable of.

I should have wrtten romance. Instead, I created another serial killer. To be fair, I didn't expect him to become real. I didn't expect him to find me. And I definitely didn't expect him to knock on my door in the middle of the night and call me "my dear author." So here I am. A writer who has spent years teaching fictional characters how to survive impossible situations- trying to figure out how to survive one of my own.
