As Phil finds out more and more about Dan's horrible past he finds himself feeling something more... Does Dan? What are they going to do though when Dan finally breaks? Can Phil fix him? And after 5 years of asking of Phil asking 'talk to me' will he? A/N Part 1 is mostly an in-depth backstory if you want to skip, although it might not make sense then. It also contains no actual 'Phan'. It will be entirely Phils POV for part 1 and mostly Phil for part 2. This book was inspired by 'Speak Up Already' by Geniusotaku. Dan and Phil are children together, best friends from the offset. Even as they drift apart Phil's little lights stay with Dan and he carries the theory with him through into old age.

With his daughter, Dandelion starting high school, the stress of it all makes her forget all about her father. Phil also forgets about Dan at times, and although he's happy, it hurts Dan. Dan comes back into the Lester household in a different light to try and get them to remember him again. Will Dan succeed, or will he always be a forgotten flower?

Playing music has always been a big part of Phil's life. From the time he was five, and banging spoons against the table, to present day; seventeen years old and apart of the upcoming Alt. Rock/Everything-In-Between band, Heinous. It's an easy life to live, he's sure. Making music with his best friends, trying to avoid failing high school the best he can, and getting his parents to stay off his back about 'that God-awful noise'. And there's Dan Howell. His sex-on-legs, hot tempered boyfriend, who miraculously shares his love of music. It's like they're meant to be. You know, except they're apart of different bands. Rival bands, to be exact, with every member hating the other, with a vengeance. They know damn well not to publicise their relationship, not with a certain competition coming up that could make or break them; the tension would be off the charts and would do nothing but cause unwanted drama. But you can't keep secrets forever. And with the stress of practice and their band members on their backs, it's getting harder to keep it in the dark.

Daniel Howell is a muggle-born Slytherin. Philip Lester is a pure-blood Hufflepuff. Dan thinks that Phil is "too good" to talk to a muggle-born like him. Phil thinks Dan is "too proud" to talk to a Hufflepuff like him. After all, Dan is a Slytherin. According to Draco Malfoy, Slytherins shouldn't converse with Hufflepuffs, or any other house besides their own. And, after all, Phil is a pure-blood. Isn't he too good to talk to a muggle-born like Dan? Aren't pure-bloods supposed to only be friends with other pure-bloods? And aren't Hufflepuffs and Slytherins supposed to not get along? Due to their personality traits and the fact that their houses are complete opposites? Right?

A boy raised around religion and the discounts for sin, Phil Lester is definitely not one to go around looking for trouble. With his father being the vicar of their local church, Phil has a lot to live up to and has to keep his reputation high if he's to be accepted. He doesn't do parties or drinking; the thought of sex alone is enough to terrify him. So it's no wonder that when Dan Howell, a boy who embraces the life of parties and rebellious acts, shows up to join the church program, Phil starts having trouble keeping himself sane as he tries to teach Dan the path to God. But, religion isn't the thing on Dans mind and he seems to find himself a new toy to play with.
