October 2003, Louisiana.
Sixteen-year-old Oleander "Lea" Duval has spent her entire life haunted by psychic visions that never arrive in time to stop disaster. Hoping to leave the past behind, she reluctantly joins her classmates from Briarhaven Academy on a trip to Le Cirque des Rêves - a bizarre amusement park hidden deep within an isolated, old-money community. When terrifying visions warn her that something in the park is watching them, Lea realizes this may be her chance to escape.
Bored fifteen-year-old Maeve Hamada would rather be anywhere else. As a medium, she has long since stopped finding the supernatural particularly interesting. But when Maeve and her best friend Lea uncovers something unsettling, her usual indifference becomes much harder to maintain.
Seventeen-year-old Ziggy Vasquez is an acrobatic clown who can transfer pain and manipulate probability. He initially wants nothing to do with two teenage monster hunters, but the strange activity surrounding Le Cirque makes staying out of trouble impossible.
Venturing deeper into the neon-lit funhouse and the swamps beyond, Lea's visions, Maeve's uncanny relationship with the dead, and ZIggy's impossible resilience reveal that Le Cirque des Reves is far hungrier than either of them imagined. As distrust gives way to an unlikely alliance, they discover that the park isn't just a place of entertainment-it's a cage, and whatever is pulling the strings has been waiting decades for fresh blood.
Narrated across three distinct perspectives, The Deadbeat Saints is a supernatural folk-horror about three misfits, an old-money Louisiana community, and a subterranean amusement park that awakens something ancient beneath the wealthy enclave.
