Jess was a typical girl, who lived above a bakery. Her mom owned the bakery which every girl envied at Saint Jordan's High School. All except Eliza, the skinny, other popular girl in the 10th grade. While they both were the top 'cats' at the school, they were friends. Or so it seemed. Underneath their friendship laid a baking friendship, which is about to be burned.

Añuli was a normal girl, living with her tribe in the Kenya. Everyday she would stare out her cracked and stained window, looking across the river beside her house. There stood a tall, elegant, canopy tree. She would stare at its curving trunk, desiring to stroke her hands down its rough bark. The bark protected the center of the tree, like Añuli's skin protected her heart. But the day the white men came, her skin broke, shattering her heart.

The car swerved on the side of the road and flew across the snowy ground as it rolls,rolls,and rolls down,down,and down. "Mimi! Help I-i'm scared!" Black called as the car hits a big oak tree and for Mimi everything goes black. She hears nothing. Mimi's cage foor swings open,as Mimi pokes her head slowly out,"Black..? A-are you okay?" Mimi slowly padded to Black's cage. Then terror stroke Mimi. Her owner and Black...were dead.
