If the task is failed the children are sent back to their families but if the task is completed they will be killed. Ariel had just reached 13 and the time for her ceremony came.. She is able to complete said task and the government officials leap towards her in an effort to get rid of her. But the young girl is not alone and is saved along side another kid who she doesn't know the name of. He's quiet and hasn't spoken a word to her the whole time.. This story follows the journey of Ariel as she bonds with her companion and meets other runaways such as herself. What happens when she joins a rebel grop in an effort to show the people that they weren't evil?
