But have you ever heard of the opposite? Sybelle Vertigo has a soft spot for animals, especially those cruelly mistreated stray black cats. she scoffs at the old folktales of Witches Familiars, or the urban myths that they bring bad luck. She thinks those people are to stupid to understand. When she finds a poor abandoned black cat on a rainy day, it will change her life. Sybelle is going to realize how small her world has been up to that moment. But her kind nature may be her undoing in a world where everybody is her enemy and her only friend is a not so simple Black cat.

It's an age old struggle between cats and dogs, but we don't know the half of it. Cassie lives all alone in the hills of Arkansas. The reason? She's a werecat, an ocelot to be exact. Most humans are only aware of werewolves, which is fine with the rest of the "were" population. It makes keeping hidden easier. Cats are solitary creatures for the most part, making Cassie's cabin nestled in the forest the perfect spot for her. That is, until another werecat shows up and ruins it. Cassie lives in terror of weres because of a terrible tragedy during her childhood. But Jasper is determined to change her mind, and quick. You see, there are others on the way, and they don't have much time to prepare.
